MISS UNIVERSE CANADA CONTESTANT - Chelsea Montgomery

Name: Chelsea Montgomery

Age: 18 | Height: 5’9″ | Fergus, ON

Coming from a small town in beautiful Southern Ontario, Chelsea sought out new experiences through education and did so throughout her school career; taking part in such things as an academic exchange to Southern France which led to her becoming bilingual and developing a passion for the French language.

Chelsea is a student at the University of Ottawa. She is in the French Immersion program studying an honours degree in Communications. She has been recognized for both her leadership and citizenship through numerous awards.

Chelsea considers one of her greatest achievements to be when she organized a conference in which 32 Non Governmental Organizations came together for 2000 students between the ages of 13 and 18.

The conference was called YOUthCAN and Chelsea’s goal was to convey the message to youth that whatever their strength and passion, they are able to make a difference in the world.

The conference had a former child soldier as a keynote speaker as Chelsea believes in raising awareness amongst youth about issues facing other youth around the world. After this Chelsea took part in a Parliamentary Round Table discussion concerning youth in Canada. Chelsea believes that true understanding comes through human connections and experiences.

Some of Chelsea’s other passions include traveling and experiencing other cultures. Her mother is from Ireland and as she was growing up her family played host to both Katimavik students from across Canada and Canada World Youth students from as far as Kenya. Chelsea also enjoys staying physically active through fun and innovative fitness classes such as zumba. Chelsea enjoys exploring cities by foot and learning about their history.
